OWN [SOUND] ART
Podcasting. Or how to own art by subscription
Podcasting has quickly become a broadcasting medium of the masses. It is often said that 'anyone can do it'. All you need is an audio file and a server from which to distribute the file. What is so appealing about podcasting, and sets it apart from just streaming audio from a website or server, is that a listener can subscribe to a podcast and automatically receive updated files whenever they are connected to the internet.
SoundNetwork, in partnership with folly, have invited 4 artists to create a podcast in an attempt to define what the medium could offer as a means of creating and exhibiting art on the internet. The artists, who incidentally are not all 'sound' artists, have been asked to exploit the medium the way they feel best suits their work. Expect strange sounds, electronica, documentary, politics and music.
A new podcast was released every Thursday throughout February
