What's Cooking Grandma?
Artistic duo Human Beans spent their summer filming the grandmothers of Lancaster cooking their special recipes. Now they’ve put the grannies on the web, with a snazzy updated website and new podcasts for you to download and watch at your leisure!
Visit www.WhatsCookingGrandma.net to see the films and grandmas contributed by upstanding members of the public – like Nannie Webb and her delicious looking Apple and Blackberry Crumble.
We can recommend Sonja’s Lancashire Hotpot - all you need is lamb, potatoes, onions and four to six hours - and Nanna Ruth, who will show you the right way to make Blackcurrant jam. For something saucier try Great Grandma Jackie’s humungous scones…some people like their scones small - she likes them big.
Adding your own film’s as easy as pie. Film your grandma, your mum or yourself cooking Grandma's special recipe and upload it to www.WhatsCookingGrandma.net. You can make a feature film, use a camcorder or shoot it on your mobile phone - as long as it’s less than 10mins.
Spread the word…forward this, blog us – and make your own film!
Human Beans is a collaboration between London based artists and designers Mickaël Charbonnel and Chris Vanstone. See www.humanbeans.net for further info
What’s Cooking Grandma was commission as part of Perimeters Boundaries and Borders - an f.city exhibition from fast-uk and folly, at City Lab, Lancaster in 2006.
