folly brings you ArtCast, an ongoing series of podcasting programmes - a platform for public access to new, innovative sound & video art. Find out about the ways you can access ArtCast right now by clicking hereFor the Spring 2008 programme folly worked with moves to select sound and video art relating to the moves08 festival theme of “the interaction of choreographed movement and sound”.
Selected from an international open call for submissions, ArtCast Spring 2008 includes four audio and four video podcasts, released weekly throughout April.
Week 1 available now!
Play or download audio and video now, or read Ways to experience ArtCast to subscribe to the podcasts.
This is the first of four weekly podcasts in association with moves08, in which audio and video art exploring the theme of this year's moves festival, the interaction of movement and sound, has been selected from an international open call. For the first week two audio and three video pieces have been brought together, all of which have a shared wit and communicative sensibility. Click here for further information.
Week 2 available now!
This week's selection explores and makes manifest tensions which arise in the relation of audio to visual, sound to movement, and vice versa. One audio and two video pieces communicate the intensity inherent in such relationships. Click here for further information.
Week 3 available now!
Play or download audio and video now or read Ways to experience ArtCast to subscribe to the podcasts.
For the third week of podcasts exploring the moves08 festival theme of the interaction between movement and sound, three videos and one audio piece have been selected. There is a subtlety in the execution of these pieces which crosses the line between calming or contemplative and something more unnerving and sinister. Click here for further information.
Week 4 available now!
We've had to remove this weeks video due to technical difficulties - it will be available again soon.
The final podcast in this series, released to coincide with moves08, takes a more descriptive or observational approach to the theme, addressing both verbal and visual approaches to commentary and the act of description, in one audio and two contrasting video pieces. Click here for further information.

ArtCast offers public access to new, innovative sound & video art. There are two streams which you can subscribe to: ArtCast_audio and ArtCast_video
ArtCast_audioYou can listen to ArtCast_audio direct from this page using the play buttons next to each track. You'll need to have Adobe Flashplayer installed. Or use the download links to download the audio files direct to your computer.
You can subscribe to the podcast so that you know every time a new episode becomes available. You'll need some (free) software that can handle podcast subscriptions, such as Juice or iTunes. Whichever software you use there will be a menu item along the lines of 'subscribe to podcast'. Juice has a subscriptions tab for this and iTunes has it on the Advanced menu. You need to copy and paste the ArtCast_audio rss feed link (right click - copy link location or copy shortcut) into the podcast programme so it knows where to check for new episodes. The audio files will be played in your default media player such as Windows Media player, VLC or iTunes.
If you have the free open source player VLC installed you can click on the 'm3u' link to load the podcast as a playlist.
Click here to see all the ArtCast_videos currently available. You can play these direct from this list by clicking on the play links, or download your choice of file by clicking on the "download other formats" tab on each video's information page.
